Hale arrives and says that he hasn't extracted any confessions yet. The one prisoner who he hasn't talked to is John Proctor. The officials decide that they will bring in Elizabeth Proctor to speak with him and convince him to confess. Elizabeth and John are left alone, and Elizabeth informs John of Giles Corey's death. Giles was pressed to death with heavy stones since he refused to plead guilty or innocent to the charges of witchcraft. John begs her to tell him whether or not he should confess. He's leaning towards confessing because he doesn't think very much of himself and feels his soul is already beyond redemption. He asks for Elizabeth's forgiveness, but she says her forgiveness doesn't mean anything if he won't forgive himself. She also places some blame on herself for the way things went down with Abigail. She tells him that only he can decide whether or not to confess.

John tentatively agrees to confess, but he refuses to name any names and then is reluctant to sign the confession. He decides he can't go through the rest of his life after signing his name into disgrace in this permanent way. He snatches the signed paper away at the last minute and rips it to shreds, thus sealing his fate. Rebecca Nurse and John are then led off to the gallows by Marshal Herrick. The others beg Elizabeth to convince him to reconsider, but she refuses to deprive him of this choice when it's clearly the only way he can break free from his self-hatred.

Devil May Cry 3 130 Crack Only

John Proctor is the only prisoner Hale hasn't spoken to yet. The officials decide to summon Elizabeth Proctor to see if she will speak to her husband and persuade him to confess. Hale keeps pushing Danforth to postpone the executions, arguing that it would show that he is merciful rather than weak, but Danforth won't change his mind. Hale points out that society in Salem is on the verge of collapsing because of the upheaval caused by the trials. Danforth asks Hale why he has even bothered to return to Salem, and Hale says it's because he can't live with the part he played in condemning innocent people to death. There will be less blood on his hands if he can get them to confess.

Proctor has been contemplating making a confession, and he asks Elizabeth what she thinks he should do. He feels he has already committed so many sins that it's stupid for him to bother holding up his integrity on this one point. John says he has only refrained from confessing out of spite, not nobility. He asks for Elizabeth's forgiveness. She says he needs to forgive himself first, and her forgiveness doesn't mean much if he still feels he's a bad person. She blames herself for pushing him into Abigail's arms and says he shouldn't take responsibility for her issues as well.

However, Danforth's own reputation as a strong judge hangs in the balance, and he dares not damage it by getting all wishy-washy. "Postponement now speaks a floundering on my part; reprieve or pardon must cast doubt upon the guilt of them that died till now. While I speak God's law, I will not crack its voice with whimpering" (pg. 119).

The prisoners have lost what little faith they had in the earthly authority figures who have failed them, and they look towards the judgment of God. John ultimately realizes the only power he has left is in refusing to confess and preserving his integrity. As Elizabeth says to him, "There be no higher judge under Heaven than Proctor is!" (pg. 127). In steadfastly refusing to confess, Rebecca Nurse ends up holding onto a significant amount of power. The judges cannot force her to commit herself to a lie, and her sacrifice will deal a serious blow to their legitimacy.

Several characters are still dealing with intense guilt at the end of The Crucible. After quitting the court in Act 3, Hale did some self-reflection and decided to return to Salem to advise the accused witches to confess. His rationalization is that encouraging people to lie to save their lives is a forgivable sin, but being responsible for the deaths of innocents is not. He's wracked with guilt over the part he played in kicking off the witchcraft hysteria ("There is blood on my head!" pg. 121). However, because Hale is so tormented, he's only able to consider his personal feelings about the situation. The false confessions might absolve him of his guilt, but the confessors would be forced to live the rest of their lives in shame.

New entries in the series were put on hold after Ninja Theory took a crack at the series and made some changes to the portrayal of Dante and the game world, which ended up turning off a lot of the core fans who enjoyed the series under Capcom's development.

The one ironic thing about these toxic replies is that you see the true extent of how useful an English degree is: The only time you use it is to prove or argue a non existent point on some website made to help millions of people with understanding something someone wrote almost 420 years ago. Good going guys :)

It won't spoil me enjoying the game but part of me thinks maybe I shouldn't of bought it which might be the only way Sony might listen but that would effect capcom and it's not there fault . Borderline paedophile I can understand but this is stupid

The road to hell is paved with good intentions, first its only to censor niche japanese games, then to censor niche games although its from big publisher, than to censor all games for japan. What the next phase, censoring cyberpunk nudity, making xbox the definite cyberpunk experience? Censoring violence if enough (non gamers) people scream it?

Like microtransactions, not all censorship is equal, sometimes it makes sense but unfortunately companies who employ this strategy never use commonsense, to them 'problematic content' is all the same. A flash of butt crack on a grown women in a tropey, uncreative damsel in distress scene is apparently the same as letting the player touch an anime character all over while it says stop...

After reading all the comments and not having any idea what you all were talking about I finally watched the video. OMG. That's just ridiculous. It's just a butt crack. I think that might make it through the Instagram censors. We'll maybe not, but maybe.

@FullbringIchigoIt's an M rated game and the censorship wasn't there pre-patch. This kind of stuff is getting stupid when you have all sorts of extreme violence throughout the game but a butt crack is where we draw the line?

and it only started to become a problem when Sony started doing cross play, it's like because they couldn't complain about that any more people found something else to complain about and how is this any different than the Pizza scene in DmC?

@KingdomHeartsFan Except PS4 was selling gangbusters before this policy was implemented and there are women calling this censorship nonsense as well. Nobody is being protected by this, it does nothing from a PR standpoint sales aren't going to rise due to this.I can't take anything serious as an 'art' form (something I've never considered gaming to be anyway) when there is needless censorship especially when it only goes one way. Yes, some content is questionable, some uncomfortable. As long as it doesn't cross the line (this scene didn't), and the game is properly rated and features adult characters (check marks on both those) it shouldn't be censored, period. That's my stance there is no reasonable argument to be made against it.

@FullbringIchigoI don't think the timing is strange at all, crossplay is a separate issue and it was a separate crowd going on about that. As we've both acknowledged the censorship issue has gone on forever. And to answer your question in your prior comment because I don't want you think I'm avoiding the subject. I think this scene is different from the pizza box scene because that was on all platforms and the whole thing was meant to be silly and stupid (we're also talking 2013 which was before people got really frothing at the mouth about female sexuality in games). This is a more serious scene and only the PS4 is effected. What throws me off is it's only in the West, which again, if Sony was doing the censoring you'd think it would be all regions given how this has been handled to this point. We'll never hear from anybody so we'll never know for sure but it could be a Capcom choice. I don't rule that out.

@Gamer83 of course as someone else pointed out earlier there is the whole issue in the west right now about assault and abuse of women and unlike MS Sony is a company that has MANY different arms including TV and Film, the areas where most of that has come to light (for example Sony own Funimation who is currently going through scandal involving the voices actors of Bulma and Broly, if you want more info i suggest looking it up) so this could just be a blanket response from them over those issues, a company wide mandate that affects ALL their american and EU subsidiaries and that could be why it only affects the west and why it's only Sony doing it

@FullbringIchigoThis stuff hasn't only effected Western releases in the past though, that's the peculiar part. I also still think it's a ridiculous response to real life issues. My stance on entertainment has always been that some stuff is uncomfortable. Of course Sony is free to regulate how content is handled on its platform but that doesn't mean I have to agree. The unfortunate part is there are suitable options for me. Building a gaming PC is more money than I'd like to spend, MS has no exclusives worth a damn these days (not buying a console with no exclusives) and Nintendo hardware is underpowered. So all I and others can do is voice our displeasure and hope at some point Sony makes changes. There are better ways to combat the real life issues women face like holding men in position of power more accountable for how they actually treat the ladies they work with. Especially old, rich white guys who can seemingly buy their way out of trouble. 2ff7e9595c
